“At first you might find that nothing happens there. But if you have a sacred space and use it, eventually something will happen. Your sacred space is where you find yourself again and again.” ~Joseph Campbell
The mission of EmBody Retreats:
~offer tools of connecting to the wisdom of embodiment
~expand possibilities for personal embodiment practice
~value connection to self as a spiritual practice, as daily Sadhana
~honor embodied practices as vehicles to cultivate awareness
~serve sustainability of physical movement for dancing as well as daily life
~connect to something bigger through the universal power of dance
We believe that dance is the most universal and powerful way in which to connect within, as well as connect with tribe, community, and honor life initiations and transitions.
We believe that we are spiritual beings living in a physical reality, that in order to live a fulfilling life and to serve the flow of life we must connect to our essence nature regularly (every day!).
We are here to bring dance back to the forefront of tools for empowerment, expression, and living fully alive, awake, present to our senses and in our fullest expression.
Dance is the most universal of human activities!
Humans relate to rhythm on an intrinsic level, all the way from our beginnings in the womb, hearing the heartbeat of our mother. All babies are born dancing!
Our mission is to help us all remember that we are all dancing beings.
We are born dancing beings, we move through life in a dance of relationships, choices, experiences, and most of all, in a dance with our relationship to Self.
There are many rivers of wisdom and tradition to which we bow, as we believe each has value to serve the flow of our embodied experience.
Vibration, pulsation and rhythm are primary movements in the universe, as well as inner awareness and all of consciousness.
Physics also tells us that the fundamental movement pattern in the cosmos and in Nature is the spiral. DNA is a double helix, connective tissue is a triple helix! The Fibonacci set is a spiral in nature, the time-space continuum is said to be curved.
We believe that the next level of embodiment practices will take the movement of pulsation, of the wave and the pathway of the spiral as primary teachers. Rhythm is a great teacher, and it invites us to dance!
Dance is also a way to play, to stay curious, to stay adaptable to the changing moment. With the world transforming before our very eyes, dance is a path to freedom, empowerment, and flexibility in knowing what serves us, and when.
We believe that there’s more than one map of embodiment.
Throughout history, dance has been repressed because of its potency and power. It is time for a rebirth, of our own ecstatic connection, our own essence expression, our tools for personal empowerment, our community rituals, prayers, and celebrations- time for our tribes to come together in order to live in harmony with each other and with the earth.
We believe more dancing is part of the answer!
